Occasionally I go to the natural market to get a few key ingredients. Like rye flour, or almond granola, or agave nectar. While those things are now showing up in regular super markets, I still find myself exploring the odds and ends at Mama Jeans and the other natural grocers in town.
Yes I think the natural grocery stores smell weird. I have no idea what it is. Maybe its the vitamins, or natural cleaners, the chemical-free deodorant or some herb that’s overtaking my olfactory senses.
Even the new one smells weird.
Anyway, as I was waiting to check-out I spotted a little bag of “chips” that caught my eye. (I’ve always been a sucker for impulse shopping)
Vegetable chips? Hm….
I had to try them.
And I’m telling you, I have never eaten a green bean that is so wonderfully close to the crispy-salty Frito Lay that I may have died right there in the car as I wolfed down half the bag.
It could have had something to do with the fact that it was lunch time and I has ravenous.
Luckily, I was able will myself away the bag. I knew I had to share with my “Paleo”, “Caveman” and BFL diet friends. They are going to die! I told myself.
I raved on to them, “You see there are sweet potatoes, carrots, green beans, taros….”
“What’s a taro?” they asked as they skeptically tried their first bite.
I don’t know. And it doesn’t matter, they are DELICIOUS!
“Oh my…..yeah….I want to try a purple one! They ARE delicious!” they said.
And we’re officially hooked. Apparently, my fellow food blogger friend Glenda is too. (I didn’t copy, promise!)
Glenda found hers at the Amish store in Branson. The Amish store also smells funny.
The end.
