Spaghetti Night

So, of all the things I have cooked for dinner, I am not allowed to make spaghetti. Even though it is one of the most inexpensive and easy things to prepare for a meal, I have been deprived of homemade spaghetti since I married Justin almost 6 years ago.

They say you don’t really know someone until you are married, eh?

You see, there is some story about a cafeteria-made meatball sub right before basketball practice in the 7TH GRADE. Apparently it caused unthinkable misery and subsequent vomitus in a nearby trashcan. And the incident did not just scar him for a week or two. Not even a year, but for almost 13 years! The fact that he was able to live a somewhat normal life is still a miracle.

And we give thanks for that :)

But ladies and gentlemen, he “thinks” he might like it now. All of the sudden, out of the blue. Now that his gastric system is finally catching up with his years and years of torturous 4th meals….filet-o-fishs……and rooster sauce. Now that he’s a slave to the Pepcid, Prilosec and Pepto gods.

He thinks it might “finally” be time to give that red sauce a second chance. Anyone else confused?

So I did what any supportive, loving wife would do. I gathered some friends and did what I’ve been wanting to do for years- we made spaghetti!……. With meat sauce!

And…….he ate it! And he didn’t die! He didn’t even throw up!

I am so proud.

The kiddos liked it too. (Is it sad when I know Joslyn and all her baby friends will love something, but have to wonder if my own husband will eat it?)

Check out adorable Lillian! She cleaned her tray with no complaints.

And sweet Alizabeth. No messy face here- she is so clean. She could have eaten a whale and her mouth and hands would have been clean.

Finally here’s Joslyn getting cleaned up. She obviously had a great time.

Thanks Dad, for being so brave!
