CSA haravest and a roasted veggie experiment

Here's the harvest for a 1/2 share of vegetables and a fruit share this week at Millsap's farm.

Most of these vegetables are familiar, but there are a couple newbies. This is what I love most about our CSA- we go home with veggies we would have never bought before (mostly because they aren't available in traditional grocery stores) and we get to try them out!

The long purple beans are called Chinese Red Noodles, and the softball size squash is a lemon squash. I can't wait to try them!

This isn't the first time we've encountered rare vegetables from our CSA share. Here are some mixed veggies being marinated before grilling them. See the red/purple carrots? They are quartered lengthwise along with small ordinary carrots, red onion, yellow squash, green beans, and fresh parsley.

Here's the finished product, it was bright and vibrant- with all the freshness of summer veggies straight from the farm. This was, of course, served with an equally gourmet main dish of hot dogs and pickles.

And with a share so delicious to use this week also.....seriously, it doesn't get any better than this!
