If you all remember, I found a-can’t-walk-away-empty-handed deal last fall on the glorious Calphalon non-stick pans. I have been getting used to them over the last few months.
Although I can’t remember life before these pans, I was a little upset that I couldn’t use my cooking sprays on them. After all, the idea of a non-stick pan is you can use less oil/fat and the food doesn’t stick.
And convinced that the toxic impact of aerosol cans filling up our landfill probably isn’t the best idea anyway, I searched for alternatives. So I began just dribbling a little bit of oil on the pans. Then I noticed that my food turned out a little too greasy, and I was going through a lot of oil!
(that good EVOO stuff isn’t cheap!)
Alas, a trip to the outlet malls!
This cool non-aerosol oil sprayer caught my eye. The bargain of the weekend! It uses a little human energy to transform oil (whichever kind you want) into an aerosol-like spray. The lid works like a pump to an air rifle. Ready to fire!
This not only allows you to use less oil, you are saving calories and the environment as well. Not to mention- no risk of burning off your eyebrows on a gas range. And it cost me under $5!
I found them online here, but they’re a lot cheaper at Kitchen Collection at Tanger (in Branson, MO).
