My foodie shopping day

Today Justin and I went to Kansas City for the day and left Joslyn at home with Gigi. We wanted to spend some time together, do a little shopping and eat at P.F. Chang’s. So to the Plaza we headed.

Usually I don’t find much to actually purchase at The Plaza, because well, I don’t pay $300 for jeans or even close! However, I found a store called “The Better Cheddar“. Woah! It was awesome. It was similar to The Cheddar Block in Springfield, but it had a lot more imported stuff. And they have lots of samples!

I went crazy. I had my arms full and as I laid some of it at the checkout counter the woman asked, ” Are you finished looking?” I responded, “No, my arms are just full, I still have half the store to look through!” Here’s the loot:

From left to right:

  • some cheap sauce bowls (prepping for homemade sushi)
  • Grey Salt- which I’ve been wanting to buy for some time, supposed to be the best quality salt around
  • Flake chocolate bar (Cadbury’s chocolate, imported from UK, my friend Hannah got me hooked on these. I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw them)
  • Angel hair pasta nests- looked cool
  • Aged and imported Basalmic Vinegar- always wondered how great quality Basalmic Vinegar is….
  • Wasabi paste- again the sushi thing
  • a yummy Sesame Ginger Teriaki sauce that I had a sample of and HAD to purchase!
  • President butter from France (Glenna-thanks for the tip)
  • Fish sauce (I’ve been wanting to make Thai food for a while, and this is a main ingredient, its like soy sauce to Chinese food)
  • some cool Asian plates (actually from Urban Outfitters)
  • and a couple of baking sheets because I accidentally ruined one of mine last week

Glenna, I’m trying new things! And somewhat eating my words, huh?

But the star of the show…..Dun…dun…dunnnnn….

Was when Justin bought be a Calphalon Wok! Mine old wok just isn’t cutting it and I needed more out of a wok. I couldn’t believe it. At the register, he says “Happy Valentine’s Day”. I think I had a constant grin on my face for at least an hour.

Its beautiful! I can’t wait to use it.

So, I’ll have to tell you about the P.F. Chang’s later. Moral of the story, don’t sway away from big expensive shopping malls because you don’t think you’ll have a good time. I didn’t buy a single article of clothing, but I don’t care the least bit. I’m too excited about my butter and salt!
