I just finished my very first ever batch of Chocolate Crinkles! I can’t believe I have never had these before. Someone brought these to work and I ate way too many. So today I ventured to find the best recipe. (Okay, so this might not be the best recipe, its the only one that I didn’t have to go get more groceries for)
I’m a big fan of brownies with a nice thick layer of powdered sugar on top (thank you Jaclyn!) and these are very similar. Its like a beautiful brownie cookie.
I got the recipe here. This is of course a borrowed recipe, but I like these enough to try a little tweaking.
I’ve been messing around on a new program called MacGourmet. I’ve asked for the full version for Christmas. If all goes well, I will soon be able to post all my recipes (Original and borrowed) on a site of their own and simply link to that site. Then in the kitchen, I have an organized way to pull up all my favorite recipes. Read about this great new program here.
It talks about “bringing your recipe collection into the 21 century” just like we’ve done with our music in iTunes, pictures, movies and so on. Why not cherish the food we make so it’s written down for our generations to come!
Seriously, I bet my kids will laugh on day when I tell them there was such a thing as a recipe box. I will tell them the boxes were decorated often to match the rest of the kitchen, as if it were a part, like the nucleus. This is where we wrote recipes on small cards and stuffed them in this box quite haphazardly, and having to sort through them all to find the card you were looking for. A seemingly insignificant but hard to live without piece of an American home!
